BCI
Better Cotton Initiative
Starting from March 2019 Microtex has joined the Better Cotton Initiative www.bettercotton.org, an association formed by producers, intermediaries and non-profit groups created to actively improve the global cotton industry and improve its impact on the environment and on the people who cultivate it.
Cotton is a very important material for us, it is responsible for the use of 24% of the insecticides and 11% of the pesticides used globally, with damages both on the growers and on the enlarged neighboring communities, but thanks to this initiative it is possible to reduce up to to the total elimination of all harmful chemicals.
This approach saves 90% of water, improves the quality of the soil, the working and economic conditions of the farming communities.
Microtex is committed to buying only more sustainable cotton, for a better future.
